Accessibility tab order is not working in sequence

Hi Team Articulate,

I have put my content on slide in the required order and defined the sequence of paragraphs in tab order also. I am using NVDA screen reader but most of the time doesn't readout the content as per tab order sequence, when I jump to next slide sometime it start reading out the content from middle of the last paragraph. I have check with multiple people but can not resolve it. Also it doesn't highlight the reading text when I move to next text by pressing up and down arrows. Please suggest the solution.

Hi Roshan!

This is different than what I see when building a similar course. I'm excited to investigate this with you!

Let's start with a few questions:

  • Do you see this after publishing the course or in Preview? If it's after publishing, which browser are you using?
  • Which version of Storyline are you using?
  • Are your slides set to Resume to the Saved State or Reset to Initial State?

Highlighting text is a setting in NVDA called the Focus Highlight. You can change this in the Vision category.

Do you mind sharing your project with us? I'd love to see what would cause NVDA to start reading the bottom of a paragraph rather than start from the beginning. You can either attach it to this discussion or upload it to me privately.

I also ran into this issue as I was testing 8 different simulations for a course we are rolling out in two months. I uploaded the storyline project to Review and tested repeatedly for the past two days. Here is what I finally discovered:

During playback, use the Previous or Next buttons so slides start on the first focused element of the next or previous slide. This solves the issue of starting in the middle of the focused list, but it defeats the purpose of the simulation. I want users to click on hotspots and advance to the next slide with the first focused element playing in NVDA. This is a significant problem.

Lauren, if you are still about, I am happy to share my project with you.
