Hi Denise,

Is it audio within a video, or are you using an M4A audio file? If so, there is currently an issue with M4A audio not importing from powerpoint correctly as described here with a workaround to pull the audio in as well.

You'll also want to make sure you're following these general steps for importing into Storyline from powerpoint.

Hi Denise,

I'm not sure I'm following this set up - once you've inserted the MP4 file, you're no longer able to use the triggers or slide properties of Storyline to allow the user to advance to the next slide? How does the file behave in the stand alone powerpoint for the purposes of advancing?

well when I open the powerpoint they sent me there is no audio/video attached.  so I am thinking that the two files maybe totally seperate at this point.  Unless you can think of a work around I am going to just have to insert the video file in and let that play as the whole course and they will just not be able to do anything other than pause/play. :(

Hi Denise,

Without seeing the files and set up myself, I'd say go with the option you mentioned here to insert the video file and allow it to play.  You could always look at adding in some elements such as quizzes or other interactive pieces to make it more than a "sit and get" type of course.

Best of luck with your project.

Hi all!  I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 8 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here.

The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixes an issue where M4A audio files in PowerPoint wouldn't be imported into Storyline. You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.

Let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Hi, Web -- Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear of your troubles! Can you please confirm the that you're following the import process  here, and also confirm that your powerpoint file and .story file adhere to these general guidelines:

Please let us know if issues persist, as the audio should be importing from PowerPoint to Storyline correctly.
