Storyline SCORM - restart resets SCORM to incomplete

Greetings - Wondering if there is a way to retain the SCORM completion status if a user restarts a course.

I am using the latest version of SL 360 (Feb 23, 2021) and publishing to SCORM 2004.

The first time the user completes the course, SCORM shows it as complete - good. But if the user restarts the course (either by a restart course trigger or by clicking the course link), but does not again complete the course, SCORM marks it as incomplete.

Is there a way in SL to control this so that the completed status is permanent?

Thank you!

Hi Amy,

It's often a feature within the learning management systems (LMSs) as most consider a course to be in review mode after meeting the tracking requirement. In review mode, resume data is no longer sent to the LMS, which prevents learners from accidentally changing their course status from complete back to incomplete. Have you checked in with your LMS team to see if there's a way to control that?

You mentioned using the restart course trigger as well - and that would reset the course so that a learner could start again. If instead, you'd like to direct learners back to the beginning without resetting all the data, I'd look at including a jump-to-slide trigger referencing the first slide.
